A Sign of the Times: When AI Sent a Customer Our Way

A First for Us – And a Sign of the Times
This week brought us a genuine first at Reglaze Glasses Direct — and it felt worth sharing.
As part of our usual order process, we asked a customer a simple question:
“How did you find us?”
Their answer stopped us in our tracks.
They told us they’d asked ChatGPT who to use to have their glasses reglazed… and we were recommended — top of the list.
It’s a small moment, but it feels like a big one. Not just because it’s flattering (it is!), but because it says a lot about how people are finding trusted services today. Word of mouth hasn’t disappeared — it’s evolved. Instead of asking a friend or scrolling endlessly, customers are now asking AI to point them in the right direction.
To be suggested at all is an honour. To be suggested first is something we’re genuinely proud of.
It tells us that the things we focus on every day — clear information, honest advice, quality workmanship, and good customer experiences — are being noticed and reflected back in new ways we never really imagined a few years ago.
So yes, it’s a sign of the times. But more importantly, it’s reassurance that doing things properly still matters — whether the recommendation comes from a friend, a review, or an AI.
And we’ll happily take all three.
